‘‘It has always been my focus to make each patient feel at home when they come for their dental visits and I work hard to give them the attention they deserve.

I grew up on the creeks and beaches of Charleston, SC. After graduating from MUSC dental school in 1998, I moved to the upstate and began practicing dentistry in Simpsonville.

I am very fortunate to be married to a woman that shares the same passion for dentistry and quality patient care that I do. Andi, my wife, is an excellent asset to my dental team. I have been blessed with three great children that have a multitude of interests ranging from sports, school, and church.

Why did you choose dentistry?

My love for science and technology helped me forge my way through degrees in chemistry and biology from the College of Charleston. I received my degree in dentistry from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Over the years, dentistry has become a marvelous avenue for me to continue my educational endeavors as I have gained hundreds of hours of continuing education on an annual basis. I believe that having a strong foundation of knowledge and experience allows me to provide our patients with more options, in turn, creating better case results.

What’s the best part of your job?

I love being a dentist and have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. The friendships that I have built with my patients and their families are one in a million.

It has always been my focus to make each patient feel at home when they come for their dental visits, and I work hard to give them the attention they deserve.

What do you do outside the office?

When I am not in the office, you can find me with family, on the lake wakeboarding, or with friends mountain biking. I enjoy photography and have decorated the office with numerous wildlife photos.

‘‘Dr. Godwin is an amazing doctor. He is very professional and extremely personable. It is obvious how much he cares about his patients in making sure they are satisfied and happy.’’

Meet Dr. Shawn Boudreaux

Simpsonville dentist, Dr. Shawn Boudreaux, in blue scrubs standing outside.

‘‘I put my patients first. Every time I discuss something with them, I always make sure we incorporate their input in the decision making process.

Dr. Boudreaux’s dental memberships and credentials include:

I was born and raised near Lafayette, LA. After searching the country for a better place to live and practice dentistry, my family and I moved to Greenville, SC.

I’m happy to share my life with my wife, Brook, and our three children; our son, Elijah, and twin daughters, Amelie and Emery.

Why did you choose dentistry?

I initially chose engineering as my career path, but soon realized how much I missed human interaction.

Growing up, I had a lot of unique experiences with dentistry, from braces at the age of 20 to jaw pain at 23. I always enjoyed the way people in the dental field were able to help me, and I wanted to be able to do the same. Dentistry was an easy decision from there on!

I received my DDS from LSU School of Dentistry and completed a one-year residency at New York University, obtaining skills in implant dentistry, oral surgery, and more. I hold certification in dental implants and IV sedation.

What’s the best part of your job?

Helping someone who is scared of the dentist become comfortable and proactive in their dental health. I can often relate to patients because I’ve been in the same situation with my dental care.

What do you do outside the office?

I enjoy playing soccer, basketball, and football, hiking, camping, fishing, and reading classic fiction and nonfiction literature. Most of all, I love being with my family.

Who is your hero?

My parents! My mother is one of the most selfless people I have ever met. The word “no” is not in her vocabulary. My dad worked every day for 20 years to give us a decent education and life. I strive every day for excellence to honor his sacrifice.

One can never fully appropriate everything a parent does for their child until you have children of their own. My mom and dad worked and continue to work extremely hard – that is something I try to emulate every day.

What was the best day of your life?

Every day! I’ve found that life is an accumulation of small precious moments, where we get to choose if it’ll be a positive or negative experience.
